Senior citizens in the country are in great stress at all times as their age is robbing all facilities and services except a few in the society. Public sector insurance companies refuse to accept medical insurance after certain age and never neither increase policy nor top up though private insurance companies accept policies till 80 years of age ,ofcourse with huge premium. Banks never consider senior citizens for loans beyond certain age inspite of good financial background. After COVID pandemic Railways stopped concession for railway travel even though post COVID railways getting good revenue. Senior citizens have to wait in long lines in many instances except a few. The other day Railway Minister told parliament that at present there is no situation to revive concessions to senior citizens for travel as Railways spent fifty nine  thousand crores for passenger services and amenities and added that lot of expenditure for employees. But senior citizens are entirely different with other issues. If possible better to increase the age to seventy years for senior citizen concessions to reduce the burden in Railways.But it looks Railway ministry is not taking it seriously without any respect and recognition to senior citizens.

 It is a fact that the life span has gone up due to modern medical sciences as well as care taken for long and healthy living. In the past decades beyond the age of fifty or fifty five ,most of the people were called old people. As the life span increased ,the term old person has to be changed and those above the age of 75 or eighty years can be called old. So all should consider above 75 years as old and senior citizens and all facilities and services must be continued till the age of 75 by insurance companies, banks, all financial institutions, railways etc. it is most unfortunate and injustice that neither government nor public sector consider the great service and sacrifice done by senior citizens during their active age in their life inspite of paying all taxes on par with other citizens. When taxes are paid equally why this discrimination with age for equal services and facilities? Or else better waive off all taxes or reduce them  drastically. It is the need of the hour for the government and  society to recognise the great services during their active life and reward them with many benefits to help themselves and family members for a peaceful and comfortable life.
