In an exciting initiative, the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, and Emerging Technologies organized the 1st National Hackathon on Innovations in Computer Science 2023. Supported by Epam and Smart IMS, this event took place on August 25th and 26th at Guru Nanak Institutions.

The Hackathon provided a dynamic platform for students to transform innovative ideas into reality. Over the course of 24 intense hours on campus, participants coded their concepts. The event centered around six compelling themes: Health Care, Security and surveillance, Waste Management, E-commerce, Smart Systems, and Open Innovations.

A total of 535 teams hailing from 15 states, representing prestigious engineering colleges, government universities, IITs, and NITs from across India, submitted registrations along with their abstracts. Out of this impressive pool, 147 teams were selected by the panel members of Guru Nanak Institutions. These finalists were invited to the campus to implement their coding and execute their ideas.

The event saw participation from 323 male and 263 female students, creating a diverse and vibrant atmosphere. To support their endeavors, the campus provided free accommodation for the two-day event.

The final evaluation round for the top 30 teams out of the initial 147 was conducted by industry experts from Epam, Smart IMS, and Infosys. In the closing ceremony, G S Kohli, Vice Chairman, awarded the first prize of Rs 75,000 to Sri Krishna College of Technology, Tamil Nadu. The winning team, MAVERICKS, triumphed in the Security and Surveillance theme. Vasavi College of Engineering secured the second prize of Rs. 40,000 in the Healthcare Protection category, awarded by Dr. H. S. Saini, Managing Director of GNI. Hyderabad's TECH INFINITEX walked away with this honor.
