BJP state executive committee member and local leader Palamuru Vishnuvardhan Reddy alleged that plans were underway to establish around 50 data centres in the Shadnagar Assembly constituency, which he said could have serious implications for the future of the region.

Addressing a media conference here on Wednesday, Vishnuvardhan Reddy claimed that three data centres were already under construction in the constituency and that another project was awaiting approval. He alleged that hundreds of acres were being consolidated for the proposed projects and claimed that a person close to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was staying in a house at Balaji Venture and was involved in examining land and other requirements for the data centres.

He also raised questions over the proposed Lakshmidevipally reservoir, alleging that the project could be intended to meet the water requirements of the data centres. He demanded that the government make the Detailed Project Report (DPR) public and clarify whether the reservoir was meant for drinking water, irrigation or industrial requirements.

Vishnuvardhan Reddy sought details on the proposed reservoir’s capacity, the quantity of water to be stored and the allocation for drinking and irrigation purposes. He said the government should address the concerns raised by opposition parties and the public.

Vishnuvardhan Reddy also alleged that the government had failed to mobilise funds for the construction of the Chatanpally Railway Over Bridge (ROB). He said the previous BRS government had sanctioned around Rs 90 crore for the project, while local MLA Veerlapalli Shankar had later announced that an additional Rs 190 crore would be allocated through Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.

He recalled that the works were announced to begin within a month in 2024, but alleged that the project had still not progressed, causing inconvenience to the public.
