For a public representative, success is measured not merely by electoral victory but by the impact created in the lives of people. Over the last two years, Khammam Member of Parliament Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy has emerged as a leader who combines accessibility, commitment, and development-oriented governance. As he completes two years in office on June 25, his tenure reflects a determined effort to transform public aspirations into tangible progress.

Since assuming office, Raghuram Reddy has maintained close contact with people across Khammam and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts. Rather than limiting his role to parliamentary proceedings, he has consistently taken up local issues at the national level, ensuring that the concerns of farmers, workers, youth, and marginalized communities are heard in the corridors of power.

A Strong Voice in Parliament

Raghuram Reddy's parliamentary performance has earned widespread appreciation. He attended all seven sessions of Parliament and recorded an impressive average attendance of 78.5 percent. During this period, he raised 130 questions, including six starred questions, 112 unstarred questions, and 12 submissions under Rule 377.

His interventions focused on issues directly affecting the constituency. He sought Central assistance for reviving the Kothagudem Thermal Power Station, highlighted the displacement concerns of villages affected by the Polavaram project, and pressed for solutions to challenges faced by people in remote tribal regions.

He also drew national attention to the plight of chilli farmers, urging the Centre to address market-related problems and take steps to prevent farmer suicides linked to distress and the misuse of hazardous chemicals such as Paraquat. In addition, he advocated for the development of the historic Nelakondapalli Buddhist site as a major tourism destination.

Relentless Pursuit of Infrastructure Development

Infrastructure development has been one of the defining features of his tenure. Through continuous engagement with Union Ministries, he pursued projects related to railways, highways, and aviation.

His meetings with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari focused on accelerating the Khammam–Vijayawada National Highway, Kothagudem National Highway, and the proposed Dornakal–Miryalaguda railway realignment. He also held discussions with Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar regarding long-pending railway projects.

A major milestone was the progress made toward the proposed Kothagudem Airport, with officials from the Airports Authority of India conducting field inspections following his persistent efforts.

Development Through Effective Utilisation of Funds

Raghuram Reddy has ensured effective utilisation of development funds across the constituency. Funds amounting to ₹9.42 crore under MPLADS, ₹18 crore under MGNREGS, and ₹4 crore under SDF have been channelled into infrastructure projects.

Nearly 176 development works have been undertaken, including CC roads, Anganwadi centres, drinking water facilities, and public infrastructure improvements. A notable achievement was securing ₹3.47 crore for the construction of a new bridge at Khanapuram, addressing a long-standing public demand.

A Lifeline for the Poor

Perhaps the most impactful aspect of his tenure has been his focus on healthcare assistance. Under the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF), recommendations made by the Khammam MP resulted in medical assistance worth ₹5.65 crore benefiting 1,864 patients. In addition, Letters of Credit worth ₹79.80 lakh were sanctioned for 41 individuals requiring emergency medical treatment.

These interventions have provided critical support to economically weaker families struggling with expensive healthcare costs, making him one of the leading MPs in Telangana in terms of facilitating CMRF assistance.

A New Era for Khammam

As Raghuram Reddy completes two years in Parliament, his tenure stands as a blend of parliamentary activism, developmental initiatives, and people-centric governance. Whether raising constituency concerns in Parliament, pursuing major infrastructure projects, or extending assistance to the needy, his approach has been marked by persistence and accessibility.

With public service as his guiding principle and development as his mission, the Khammam MP continues to chart a new course for the constituency.
