Amid growing political speculation over the upcoming Rajya Sabha nominations, senior Telugu Desam Party leader Bakkani Narasimhulu is being seen as a strong contender for a Rajya Sabha berth owing to his long-standing loyalty and decades of service to the party.

Bakkani Narasimhulu began his political journey with the Telugu Desam Party during the time of party founder N. T. Rama Rao and steadily rose through the ranks as a grassroots leader. He entered the Assembly for the first time in 1994 after winning from the Shadnagar constituency as a TDP candidate.

Over the years, he held several important positions within the party, including TDP State Secretary, Executive Secretary, SC Cell State President, Election Committee member, Disciplinary Committee member, national executive committee member, and national general secretary. He also served as a member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams governing body and later became president of the Telangana Telugu Desam Party in 2021.

Despite political changes in Telangana and several leaders shifting loyalties, Bakkani Narasimhulu remained committed to the Telugu Desam Party throughout his career. Political observers point out that he stood by the party even during difficult phases and continued working to strengthen its base in Telangana.

Known as a loyalist of TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu, Bakkani Narasimhulu is regarded as one of the senior-most Dalit leaders in the party from Telangana. His consistent association with the TDP since the 1980s and his organisational experience are said to be working in his favour amid the Rajya Sabha discussions.

Though there has been no official announcement from the party leadership so far, political circles believe his name is receiving serious consideration for a Rajya Sabha seat.
