Educational institutions in and around Ibrahimpatnam are under scrutiny by Vigilance and Enforcement officials over student records, admissions, scholarships and fee-reimbursement data.

Officials have reportedly been examining records at Gurunanak University since Wednesday morning, including actual student strength, admission registers and scholarship-related documents. Similar scrutiny is reportedly underway at CVR College and Indu Engineering College in the region.

Sources said the authorities are verifying whether the student strength shown in institutional records matches the actual number of students and whether admission, scholarship and fee-reimbursement claims are supported by proper documentation.

The exercise assumes significance from a public-interest perspective, as scholarships and fee-reimbursement schemes involve public funds. Accurate verification of student numbers and records is essential to ensure that government benefits reach genuine beneficiaries.

The scrutiny has also raised questions over the effectiveness of monitoring mechanisms and the verification of records submitted by educational institutions for government-funded schemes.

However, no official findings or allegations of wrongdoing have been announced so far, and the exercise should not be construed as confirmation of any irregularity.

Authorities are yet to disclose the outcome. Their findings are expected to clarify whether any discrepancies were detected in student strength, admissions, scholarships or fee-reimbursement records, and whether further action is warranted.
