An alleged illegal fertiliser manufacturing and storage unit was detected in Hayathnagar following an inspection by Rangareddy district Agriculture Department officials. Fertiliser stocks and raw materials worth around ₹10.05 lakh were seized from a godown on Kuntloor Road under Hayathnagar police station limits.

Officials said the inspection was carried out based on information about the manufacture, storage and sale of fertilisers without the mandatory licence and permissions.

During the inspection, officials reportedly found 302 bags of MOP, 91 bags of DAP and 121 bags of 20-20-0-13 fertiliser, besides raw materials allegedly used for manufacturing fertilisers. The persons present at the premises reportedly told officials that the raw material was being transported from Tamil Nadu, allegedly in goods vehicles during night hours.

Officials also found that the manufactured fertilisers were reportedly being sold in the Maheshwaram area. During the preliminary inquiry, the names of Krishna Kishore of Bengaluru, Ravi Kumar of Koyalagudem in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district and Mani Naik reportedly surfaced.

The Agriculture Department urged farmers to purchase fertilisers only from authorised sources and exercise caution while making purchases. The department’s Deputy Director also advised farmers to purchase urea through the government-authorised app and verify the source of fertilisers.

Following the seizure, Agriculture Department officials lodged a complaint with Hayathnagar police over the alleged illegal manufacture, storage and sale of fertilisers. Police said a case would be registered after a preliminary inquiry based on the complaint.

District Agriculture Officer M. Sujatha, Ibrahimpatnam Mandal Agriculture Officer Pallavi, Assistant Director of Agriculture R. Sashidhar Reddy and other officials participated in the inspection.
