Journalist unions give call for Palamuru to Pragati Bhavan March on Double bed rooms on Sept 20th
By Amruth Rao, Mahabubnagar :
The Journalists unions from Mahabubnagar district have given a call for all the journalists to take part in the ‘Palamuru to Pragati Bhavan March’ demanding double bed rooms to all the journalists.
The members of various unions have also demanded the government to list out the names of the allotted of double bed room houses in Mahabubnagar district so far and demanded that a fair inquiry be conducted by a sitting judge on the allegations of corruption in the allotment of double bed rooms to ineligible persons.
District President of Telangana Working Journalist Federation Vakita Ashok Kumar demanded the government to disclose the full details of benificiaries those who are allotted double bedroom houses in Dvitipalli and Veerannapet areas.
The journalist union member from TWJF filed an applciaton with Telangana DGP on Wednesday seeking permission for ‘Palamuru to Pragathi Bhawan padayatra’ which is expected to be under taken on September 20th. “Through this padayatra we are demanding the government to resolve the pending problems of journalists in the state. As the government has failed to heed the problems of journalists since long we are forced to take up this padayatra,” said the TWJUF President.
The TWJUF leaders urged the print and electronic media houses to cover the journalist padyatra. While speaking on the occasion Vakati Ashok alleged that corruption and irregularities have taken place in the matter of allotment of double bedroom houses in Mahabubngar district, as the revenue officials have taken the decision as per their whims and fancies.
In the past, innocent poor people who got plots under the below property line (BPL) category in Christian Palli Survey No. 523, have been at a loss as the government had failed to provide them double bed room houses.
In fact, during the tenure of earlier district collector Ronald Ross, the first and second lists were prepared and 800 people were selected. As per this list 523 those who lost land in Chritianpally were supposed to get allotted double bedroom houses in Divitipalli. This list has been put on the website of the district.
However eventually this list was deleted by the revenue officials for unknown reasons and it is alleged that the revenue officials have been playing as per their wish and whimsies in the allocation of double bed rooms and ignoring the true and rightful eligible persons.
TWUJF president Ashok alleged that the revenue officials are demanding Rs. 3 lakhs to 5 lakhs and allocating double bed room houses to those who are giving money and ignoring the rightful real beneficiaries.
Allegations are rife that a few journalists from the Print and Electronic media who are belonging to the same community as that of the minister are playing vital role in this aspect and they hand in glove with the revenue officials are involved in the corruption in the allocation of double bed rooms.
He demanded that a full investigation should be conducted with the sitting judge to know the facts in this matter.
The TWUJF leader expressed concern that the officials were not even taking complaint of the some of the journalists who have lodged with the officials and least bothering to heed their problems.
He reminded that the leaders of the opposition are openly accusing the leaders of the public organizations that the dictator's rule will continue in Palamuru and the officials are ignoring their positions and acting as corrupt officials.
Minister Srinivas Goud has repeatedly requested the leaders of various journalist union associations to register their names in the list. But Ashok expressed concern that there is still no progress as the officials are least bothered to take the representations of the journalists.
The TWUJF leader also reminded the recent survey results released by Chief Minister KCR that people in Palamuru are losing their faith with the TRS party because of the dictatorial attitude of the minister.
“Even the lower level leaders of the party have been saying that the people's faith in the party is waning on many occasions,” he said that the allegations of corruption in Palamuru double bedroom allocations are talked at all circles.
The TWUJF called upon the journalist brothers of Palamuru and Rangareddy districts to come together and participate in the padayatra. “On several occasions, Chief Minister Kalvakunta Chandrasekhara Rao has promised to build double bedroom houses for journalists, but no one has been given a single house even after 8 years of TRS government, this is not only a problem of Palamuru journalists, but a problem of journalists from all districts of the state,” said the journalist leader.
