SMRITI SAMMELAN 2K25: Sphoorthy Alumni Reunite in Hyderabad

Deccan News Service | Hyderabad : Sphoorthy Engineering College (UGC Autonomous), Nadergul, Hyderabad, hosted its much-anticipated alumni meet, SMRITI SAMMELAN 2K25, at the Chanakya Seminar Hall, bringing together former students and their families in a celebration of memories, achievements, and shared camaraderie.

The event was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Sri S. Chalama Reddy, Chairman, Thoma Educational Society; Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy Surakanthi, Secretary & Correspondent; Dr. M.V.S. Ram Prasad, Director; Dr. Venkata Sesha Giridhar Akula, Principal; Mr. Darshanala Ashok, Head of Civil Department & Controller of Examinations; along with the Alumni Association President and Secretary.

Around 292 alumni, accompanied by their families, attended the event. A special live telecast ensured that family members could partake in every moment comfortably.

In his inaugural address, Principal Dr. V. S. Giridhar Akula welcomed the alumni warmly, acknowledging their achievements in government and multinational sectors. He noted that their success through hard work and discipline brings immense pride to the college. Chairman Sri S. Chalama Reddy described the alumni as the “shining stars” of Sphoorthy, inspiring attendees with his heartfelt praise. Secretary & Correspondent Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy Surakanthi added a touch of nostalgia, recalling the alumni’s mischievous student days and their enduring bond with the college.

The Alumni Association President expressed gratitude and shared valuable guidance for current students, emphasizing the importance of learning from teachers. The Alumni Secretary reinforced that seniors remain available for mentorship and support.

Adding to the nostalgia, a short film on alumni memories was screened, evoking cherished recollections. Alumni also shared personal journeys, highlighting challenges, learnings, and professional growth, underlining the holistic development fostered by the institution.

In a post-event session, alumni engaged with department HODs, suggesting improvements in syllabus, laboratories, and training initiatives. Many expressed willingness to contribute to placements, workshops, and expert lectures, strengthening the college’s academic and professional ecosystem.

The evening’s cultural segment featured dance performances, group singing, and a fashion show, reflecting the college’s vibrant community spirit. Despite chilly weather, the atmosphere was warm, with alumni and current students mingling enthusiastically.

The program was attended by faculty including Dr. K. Ramesh Rao (Head-Data Science), Dr. B. Kiran (Head-CSE), Dr. K. Rama Rao (Head-AI & ML), Mrs. P. Sandhya (Head-CS), Dr. P. Gayathri Pavani (Head-Freshman Engineering), Dr. D. Hemanath (TPO), and Dr. R. Ravikanth, Professor of Practice-SDG.

The event concluded with Mr. D. Ashok, event in-charge, expressing gratitude to all participants, ensuring the alumni felt celebrated and appreciated for their continued bond with Sphoorthy Engineering College.
