Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao on Thursday along with Dy. Commissioner Ravi Kumar and Former Corporator Thumu Shravan Kumar launched the prestigious Telangana government flagship programme ‘Kanti Velugu’ at Moosapet Ward office.
Later speaking on the occasion MLA Krishna Rao said, that the eye is an important organ in the body and everyone should take extreme care of their eyes. "Without sight we cannot see the world” he added.
The second phase will be conducted for 100 working days with 1500 medical teams. The Kanti Velugu camps will be held between 9 am and 4 pm and each camp will be led by a Medical Officer and other medical staff.
MLA Krishna Rao said the State government has launched the programme to eradicate the visual impairment and for the benefit of the senior citizens, women and children across the state to get cured and benefitted. In the first phase almost 1.54 lakhs were screened and around 50 lakhs were given glasses as per medical advice.
Addressing the gathering Dy. Commissioner Ravi Kumar said, after screening test, as per the need glasses and medicines will also be given to them, and if necessary surgeries also be performed free of cost. He also urged the residents to maximise the opportunity and get screened in the camps organised in all the Ward offices and get benefitted.
