A 38-Year-old woman commits suicide over depression

A 38-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her house here in Mahankali Nagar under Kukatpally police station limits, over a "prolonged depression," police said on Saturday.

According to CI Narsing Rao, the incident occurred 4 January late night and the deceased has been identified as Suguna Susheela (38), who runs a Kirana store attached to her house, she was under "depression due to loss of her daughter Annie", who committed suicide on 12 January this year. She was survived by her husband D Surya Prakash (47) and her son Jeremiah, he said.

Police said, on 4th February her husband left home for his catering business, at around 11’pm she served food to her son and brother who came to see her. She went into her home for changing her dress. Over suspicion at 11’30pm when they reached home the door was locked from inside, later when they broke glass of window found her committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan. A suicide note purportedly written by her was found near stove, which stated that she was under "depression" and unable to live without her daughter, that no one was responsible for her death, CI Narsing Rao said.

The police said adding based on preliminary investigation it was found that she was under depression and it was one of the reasons for her to resort to the extreme step. Police ruled out any foul play behind the incident. A case was registered and the woman's body was shifted to Gandhi hospital for conducting post-mortem, he said.
