BJP Pushes for Smooth Muharram in GHMC Limits

Deccan News Service | Hyderabad : The BJP Telangana unit has taken proactive steps to ensure smooth and dignified Muharram 2025 observances within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, following the intervention of Union Minister for Coal & Mines and BJP Telangana State President, G. Kishan Reddy.
Minister Kishan Reddy formally submitted representation letters to relevant authorities, urging timely civic arrangements for the upcoming religious occasion. Acting on this, BJP senior leader and former state spokesperson Mir Firasath Ali Baqri met GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, IAS, at the GHMC Head Office on Tank Bund Road, and handed over the request. Copies of the representation were also submitted to the Zonal Commissioner, South Zone (Charminar).
The letter outlined essential civic requirements such as temporary sheds at Alawa Bibi (Dabeerpura) and other Ashoorkhanas, installation of LED lighting, regular sanitation, fogging for mosquito control, and timely garbage removal between June 26 and September 3, 2025.
Commissioner Karnan assured that the representation has been received and civic arrangements will be reviewed in line with GHMC and MAUD guidelines. He also promised consultations with Ashoorkhana In-charges to address localized needs effectively.
Speaking to the media, Mir Firasath Ali Baqri emphasized that all arrangements for both 2024–25 and 2025–26 Muharram will be taken up earnestly under GHMC supervision. “We thank Union Minister Kishan Reddy for prioritizing community needs and ensuring that all necessary steps are taken well in advance,” he said.
The BJP Telangana unit reaffirmed its commitment to protecting religious and cultural practices and ensuring that government services are delivered without bias, aiming for peaceful and inclusive celebrations across all sections of society.
