Demanding immediate procurement of maize from farmers and the opening of purchase centres, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged a protest rally from Gun Park to the Assembly during the ongoing Assembly sessions.

The protest was led by BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao and former minister and MLA T. Harish Rao, along with MLC Naveen Reddy, several MLCs, MLAs, and senior party leaders from the erstwhile Palamuru region. The leaders raised slogans against the government and urged it to support farmers by purchasing the maize stocks lying with them, announcing a fair support price, and setting up procurement centres at the earliest.

BRS leaders said the protest was organised to draw the government’s attention to the difficulties being faced by maize farmers and to demand immediate intervention to protect their interests.
