In a sharp counter to the Congress campaign narrative, BRS senior leader and former Minister T. Harish Rao criticized the ruling Congress party for what he called “political opportunism ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election.”

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Harish Rao said that Congress leaders were “running in panic” as the BRS had cornered them with questions on governance and credibility. He accused the Congress of invoking late leaders like N.T. Rama Rao and P. Janardhan Reddy (PJR) only for political mileage, alleging that the ruling party had forgotten their legacy until the by-election forced them to recall it.

“For two years, the Congress never spoke about NTR or PJR. Now, with elections at their doorstep, they are suddenly remembering these stalwarts and announcing ministerial posts for minorities to gain sympathy,” Harish Rao remarked.

He further questioned the sincerity of Congress’s tribute to the late PJR, pointing out that it was the same party that had once “troubled him by denying a ministerial berth, leading to deep distress.”

Harish Rao said the people of Jubilee Hills would see through such election-time theatrics, asserting that the Congress government had failed to fulfill its promises over the last two years. He called upon voters to support BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha Gopinath, saying only BRS had a proven track record of development and inclusive politics.

The remarks come amid intensified campaigning from both parties, with the Jubilee Hills by-election turning into a prestige battle for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao.
