Serious concerns are being raised over the alleged negligence of both officials and police in a ragging case involving a student of BC Boys Degree Gurukul College, Kandukur, located at Sathamrai in Shamshabad mandal, where the victim reportedly suffered severe injuries that may lead to hearing loss. Even after more than a month since the incident, the student is still awaiting justice.

According to available information, the incident occurred on the night of February 28, when Nithish, a first-year degree student, was allegedly assaulted by senior students for not addressing them as “Anna.” The attack was reportedly so severe that he suffered a tear in his eardrum, putting him at risk of losing his hearing. It is also alleged that the faculty members assigned for night duty, Sujith and Saritha, were not present at the time, allowing the situation to escalate.

Despite written complaints submitted by Nithish and his father Sadashiv to college principal Sahana Najini and the Shamshabad police, no meaningful action has been taken so far. While one student was suspended earlier this month, critics say the move was merely symbolic, as no action was initiated against other students allegedly involved or against the staff responsible for supervision on the night of the incident.

The delay has drawn sharp criticism, especially when compared to a similar ragging case reported recently at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Gurukul School in Gangadhara mandal, Karimnagar district, where authorities acted swiftly and suspended local officials within days. In contrast, in the Kandukur Gurukul case, more than a month has passed without a proper inquiry, criminal case, or disciplinary action, raising doubts over the handling of the matter.

Officials of the BC Residential Society are also facing allegations of dragging the issue without taking firm action. Although RCO Rajesh and Joint Secretary reportedly visited the college in the name of an inquiry, no departmental measures have been taken so far. At the same time, the Shamshabad police have also come under criticism for allegedly failing to register a case or begin a proper investigation despite receiving a formal complaint.

The continued silence from both the administration and police has sparked suspicion and anger among observers, with allegations emerging that political pressure and influence from higher-ups may be delaying action. With the victim still waiting for justice, the case is increasingly being seen as a troubling example of administrative and policing failure.
