Hyderabad: BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a blistering attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at a roadshow in Rahmatnagar on Saturday, accusing the ruling party of intimidation and warning that Jubilee Hills voters will punish the government at the polls.

Addressing a large crowd at the Sriramnagar bus-stop intersection alongside BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha, KTR said the Congress was resorting to threats — including talk of cancelling welfare schemes — out of fear of electoral defeat. “If the Chief Minister threatens to withdraw schemes to influence votes, the people of Jubilee Hills will cut the tail of Congress,” he declared, urging residents not to bow to intimidation.

KTR charged that Revanth Reddy maintains a “fake” public relationship with Congress while cultivating a cosy rapport with the BJP behind the scenes. He criticised the government’s handling of urban issues, citing the use of bulldozers and alleged demolitions that have affected poorer communities. “People are being frightened by the name of ‘Hydra’ and bulldozer drives,” he said, pledging that such tactics would backfire.

Recollecting the late Maganti Gopinath’s work for the constituency, KTR appealed to voters to honour the Gopinath family by supporting Maganti Sunitha. He pointed to what he described as tangible gains under the previous BRS administration and promised that the party would defend Jubilee Hills residents’ interests if returned to power.

KTR also cited recent surveys — claiming a significant swing in favour of the BRS — and predicted a comfortable victory, saying the party expects a double-digit improvement over its last performance. He called on the electorate to turn out in large numbers and “teach the Revanth government a lesson” at the ballot box on polling day.

The roadshow drew supporters from across Rahmatnagar and surrounding divisions, with party workers and local residents joining in chants and slogans backing Maganti Sunitha. The BRS said the event underlined growing momentum for its campaign as the Jubilee Hills by-poll moves into its final phase.
