Rice for All: Congress Government Fulfills Promise

MLN MURTHY I BHUPALAPALLI
The Congress government’s commitment to providing rice to all food security card holders has been fulfilled, said State IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu. Launching the rice distribution program at the Kataram Sub-Division Center, he emphasized that the government is delivering on its manifesto promises, ensuring food security for the poor.
Accompanied by District Collector Rahul Sharma and officials, Sridhar Babu stated that despite financial setbacks inherited from the previous administration, CM Revanth Reddy and Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy prioritized the welfare of the underprivileged. The scheme provides 24 kg of free rice per four-member family, saving households around Rs.1,400. Telangana is the only state in the country implementing such a rice distribution program.
Bonus for Farmers
The minister announced a Rs.500 bonus for Kharif season paddy production, supporting farmers. He highlighted that after the Kaleshwaram project collapse, Telangana recorded a historic 156.78 lakh metric tons of paddy production. The government has allocated ₹12,511 crore for Kharif procurement in 2024, surpassing the ₹10,400 crore under BRS. Unlike the previous administration, Congress has sanctioned a Rs.2,000 crore farmer bonus.
Strengthening Ration Distribution
Sridhar Babu stressed zero irregularities in ration distribution, urging officials to ensure that all white ration card holders receive their entitled share. He assured that the government will address ration dealers' concerns, recognizing their vital role in public distribution.
Fulfilling Election Promises
The Congress government remains committed to implementing key welfare schemes, including:
✔ Mahalaxmi Scheme
✔ Gruha Jyoti (free electricity for households)
✔ Free power for agriculture
✔ Rs.500 gas cylinders
✔ Fine rice distribution
✔ Rajiv Yuva Vikasam (employment scheme for youth)
Minister Sridhar Babu directed District Collector Rahul Sharma to ensure fair beneficiary selection and initiate housing construction in Manthani constituency.
The event saw the participation of Additional Collectors Ashok Kumar and Vijayalakshmi, Kataram Sub-Collector Mayank Singh, Civil Supplies Officer Srinath, Civil Supplies DM Ramulu, DRDO Naresh, Industries Department GM Siddhartha, local tehsildars, MPDOs, and other officials.
