Tragedy struck Khanapur town in Nirmal district on Saturday when a groom-to-be and his friend lost their lives in a fatal road accident while on their way to distribute wedding invitation magazines.

The deceased have been identified as Choppadandi Laxman, a resident of Yanrunpalli village in Jannaram mandal, and his friend Jaswant. According to police, the duo was travelling on a bike toward Nirmal when the accident occurred near the Komuram Bheem intersection in Khanapur town.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the rider lost control of the bike, which veered off the road, collided with a culvert, and crashed into nearby bushes. Both Laxman and Jaswant sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot.

Local police arrived at the scene soon after the incident, registered a case, and launched a formal investigation. The accident has cast a pall of gloom over Yanrunpalli village, where preparations were underway for Laxman’s wedding. Family members and villagers are in deep shock and mourning the untimely demise of the two young men.
