The growing menace of heavy trucks, especially sand and granite-laden vehicles, continues to create significant traffic issues in North Telangana, particularly in districts like Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, and their surrounding areas. These trucks, often parked on both sides of the National Highway (N.H.) roads, are causing bottlenecks and obstructing smooth traffic flow, leaving residents and commuters frustrated and vulnerable to accidents.

Despite numerous complaints from residents along these roads, there seems to be a lack of coordination among the concerned authorities, leading to the failure in implementing solutions to control the irregular parking of these heavy vehicles. These trucks, particularly sand lorries, violate traffic rules regularly, with overloading and neglecting road safety standards being common practices. The issue intensifies during the night, with these vehicles often blocking key roads, which not only disrupts traffic but also poses a severe safety hazard to other motorists.

Roadside residents have raised concerns over the impact of these trucks, with many noting the deterioration of the roads due to the weight and overloading of the vehicles. Additionally, some private individuals have illegally occupied public spaces, turning them into makeshift dump yards, further complicating the situation. The ongoing operation of these heavy trucks results in inconvenience to the public, damages the infrastructure, and contributes to both air pollution and excessive noise, making the roads unsafe for daily commuters.

The problem is not limited to a specific area. From the bypass road in Khammam to the K.U. Road in Warangal, and extending to regions like Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, and Bhadradri Kothagudem, the situation remains the same. The trucks, especially sand lorries and granite vehicles, routinely park on busy roads, narrowing lanes and obstructing traffic. The same issue is reported on roads from Warangal towards Eturnagaram, where both sand lorries and other heavy vehicles create bottlenecks. This not only disrupts traffic flow but also leads to accidents and road damage.

In response to the growing concern, the government has issued strict guidelines regarding the irregular parking of trucks along N.H. roads. The Road Safety Authority has implemented new rules to address this issue, but the concerned authorities have failed to enforce these guidelines effectively. The lack of action on the ground is causing frustration among the public, particularly as road safety and the smooth flow of traffic continue to deteriorate.

The situation demands immediate intervention. Authorities need to act decisively against those who are illegally using the roadside as dumping grounds, obstructing traffic, and damaging roads with overloaded vehicles. Enforcing designated parking zones and restricting the parking of heavy vehicles on the main roads are essential measures to resolve this issue. Furthermore, stricter monitoring of overloading violations is needed to prevent further road damage and improve safety standards.

With N.H. roads facing significant inconvenience and safety concerns, the need for immediate action cannot be overstated. Local residents have complained to authorities multiple times, but these concerns have largely gone unaddressed. To ensure smooth traffic flow and a safer environment for all road users, authorities must take swift and decisive action.
