In a major boost to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) ahead of the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, several women leaders and workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) joined the pink party on Wednesday. The induction event, held at Telangana Bhavan, was attended by senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao.

Around 200 BJP functionaries, including senior leader Kalavathi, BJP state executive member B. Laxmi, and several Mahila Morcha representatives, formally joined the BRS, expressing confidence in the leadership and developmental vision of the party.

Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao strongly condemned the Congress party’s remarks targeting the family of late MLA Maganti Gopinath, calling them insensitive and politically motivated. “The wife who lost her husband and the children who lost their father are still in grief. It is shameful that Congress leaders are trying to exploit this tragedy for political gain,” he said.

He also alleged that the Congress was resorting to unethical electoral practices, including creating nearly 20,000 fake votes, to defeat the BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha, widow of the late MLA. “Where was Rahul Gandhi when his party was involved in vote chori in Jubilee Hills?” Harish Rao questioned.

Harish Rao urged the Congress to maintain political decency during the by-election campaign and said that the BRS remains committed to public welfare and development. He added that if the party is voted back, it will continue implementing welfare schemes aimed at improving the lives of the poor and underprivileged.

With the entry of several BJP women leaders, the BRS is expected to gain additional strength at the grassroots level, especially among women voters, ahead of the November 11 polling in Jubilee Hills.
