Bablu/Mancherial: The residents of Chennur town are grappling with an alarming rise in monkey attacks, turning their daily lives into a constant struggle for safety. The simians, moving in aggressive groups, have been barging into homes, snatching food, and creating chaos. Locals report that even stepping out onto the streets has become risky, as the monkeys have started targeting pedestrians, particularly those carrying bags, snatching their belongings and sometimes resorting to violent attacks if resisted.

The situation has worsened over the past few weeks, with multiple reports of people sustaining injuries in monkey attacks. Many others have met with accidents while trying to flee from the aggressive primates. The latest victim, a woman from Chennur, suffered severe finger injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.

Eyewitnesses recount terrifying experiences of monkeys fearlessly entering houses, ransacking kitchens, and escaping with eatables. "They don’t even wait for an opportunity anymore. The moment we open the door, they rush in and take whatever they can grab," said a distressed resident. Children and elderly citizens are particularly vulnerable, as they are unable to defend themselves against the sudden attacks.

The crisis is not limited to the town alone but has spread across several villages in the Mandal areas of Mancherial district. With reports of the monkeys attacking vendors, snatching food from hands, and even damaging properties, fear has gripped the entire community. "We are scared to go out. Even a short walk to the market has become a nightmare. If we carry anything, the monkeys chase and attack us," said another resident.

Despite the growing concerns, no concrete action has been taken yet to control the menace. The affected residents are demanding immediate intervention from forest officials and local authorities to tackle the issue before it escalates further. They urge officials to either relocate the aggressive monkeys or implement measures to curb their increasing attacks.

With fear mounting and injuries increasing, the people of Chennur are desperately waiting for an effective solution before the monkey menace spirals out of control.
