Deccan News Service | Basara  : A grand reception was held at RGUKT Basara on Saturday as Telangana Endowments Minister Konda Surekha and Labour and Industries Minister Dr. Vivek Venkataswamy visited the campus to inaugurate a Vanamahotsavam program and review development works.

The ministers were welcomed at the Kakatiya Ground Helipad by RGUKT Vice Chancellor Prof. Govardhan, OSD Prof. Muralidharsan, District Collector Abhilasha Abhinav, and District SP Janaki Sharmila. Local public representatives including Adilabad MP G. Nagesh, MLA Pawar Rama Rao, and former legislators Venugopal Chari, Narayana Rao Patel, and Vittal Reddy also joined the event.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Konda Surekha assured that the state government is committed to transforming RGUKT Basara into a premier educational institution in Telangana. She emphasized that the university, originally established to provide quality technical education to students from rural and underprivileged backgrounds, will now receive special attention under the current government.

“We will ensure that RGUKT Basara receives the necessary infrastructure, faculty, and academic support to compete with the best institutes in the country,” she stated. The minister lauded VC Prof. Govardhan for his proactive efforts toward university development and called on students to actively participate in environmental initiatives like tree plantation. “Plant one sapling, protect one future,” she urged, asking every student to take personal responsibility in preserving greenery on campus.

The Vanamahotsavam was formally launched with a ceremonial planting of saplings by the ministers and dignitaries. The event highlighted the importance of environmental awareness and student engagement in climate action.

In appreciation of her visit and commitment, VC Prof. Govardhan felicitated Minister Konda Surekha with a shawl and memento. A large number of university officials, staff, and students participated in the celebrations, marking a memorable day in RGUKT’s journey toward growth and excellence.
