Revanth Reddy Advocates Radical Reforms in Education Sector

Education in Crisis: Alarming Decline in Standards
Hyderabad I DNS: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the urgent need for a complete overhaul of Telangana’s education system, citing concerning statistics from the 2021 National Achievement Survey. He pointed out a significant decline in student performance across subjects and a drop in public school enrollments, warning that failure to address these issues would harm future generations.
Government Initiatives: Filling Gaps in the System
The state government has taken decisive steps to strengthen the education sector. The recruitment of 10,000 teachers through the DSC exam and long-pending teacher promotions and transfers were completed. However, Reddy emphasized that systemic changes, not just financial allocations, are necessary to improve education quality.
Skill Development and Infrastructure Upgrades
To bridge the skill gap among youth, the government has launched the Young India Skills University (YISU) and is upgrading ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) across 100 assembly constituencies. These initiatives aim to equip students with industry-relevant skills and boost employment opportunities.
Future Plans: Sports and Specialized Universities
Looking ahead, Telangana will establish the Young India Sports University to nurture athletes for international competitions, including the Olympics. Additionally, a Mining University will be set up in Kothagudem to cater to the region’s industrial and educational demands. The government remains committed to comprehensive education reforms that align with evolving societal and economic needs.
