TX Hospitals Saves Mother and Twins in Ultra-Rare Pregnancy Case

Hyderabad, July 3, 2025:
In a medical feat, doctors at TX Hospitals, Banjara Hills, successfully performed a complex life-saving surgery on a 29-year-old woman with one of the rarest and riskiest pregnancy conditions — placenta percreta with bladder invasion during a twin pregnancy.
Ayesha Siddiqua from Zaheerabad, 28 weeks pregnant with DCDA twins, was diagnosed with placenta percreta, where the placenta had penetrated the uterus, bladder, and cervix — a condition seen in fewer than 1 in 50,000 pregnancies globally.
A multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Sruthi Palakollu and Dr. Sudha S carefully planned the surgery. Balloon catheters were first placed in the iliac arteries to control blood loss. A safe incision under ultrasound guidance allowed the delivery of twin babies — a 1 kg boy and a 760g girl — within minutes. Post-delivery, a cesarean hysterectomy and bladder reconstruction were performed by urology expert Dr. Hidayatullah and team. Surgical standby was provided by GI specialist Dr. DVL Narayana Rao and Dr. Anil Jampani.
Anesthesia and critical care were overseen by Dr. Yedukondalu and Dr. Sandeep. The hospital leadership, including Dr. Keerthikar Reddy (Chairman) and Dr. Srikanth Vodnala (COO), praised the team’s precise coordination and life-saving response.
“This case shows that global-standard maternal care is possible right here in Hyderabad,” said Dr. Vodnala.
TX Hospitals has set a new benchmark in handling rare obstetric emergencies with expertise and excellence.
