MLC Election Vote Counting Underway in Telugu States

Hyderabad – The much-anticipated counting of votes for the Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections has commenced in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The process began at 8 AM today, with election officials opening the strongrooms in the presence of candidates and their agents. The vote counting is being conducted in three phases, ensuring transparency and adherence to election protocols.

Vote Counting in Telangana

In Telangana, the counting of votes is taking place for three crucial MLC seats—two teachers’ constituencies and one graduates’ constituency. Elaborate arrangements have been made at the designated counting centers, where election officials are meticulously overseeing the process.

  • Karimnagar-Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad Graduates and Teachers' Constituency: The vote counting for these two seats is being held at Ambedkar Indoor Stadium in Karimnagar.
  • Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachers' Constituency: The counting of votes for this constituency is taking place at the Warehousing Godam in Nalgonda.

The elections for these three MLC seats were conducted on the 27th of last month, and a total of 19 candidates are contesting in Telangana. The counting centers have been set up with 25 tables to facilitate the smooth tallying of votes. As per the election guidelines, a candidate securing more than 50% of the valid votes will be declared the winner. Given the keen contest, officials anticipate a highly competitive race.

Vote Counting in Andhra Pradesh

Simultaneously, Andhra Pradesh is also witnessing the counting of votes for three MLC seats. Stringent security measures have been implemented at the designated counting centers to ensure a smooth and fair process.

  • Uttarandhra Teachers' Constituency: The counting of votes for this constituency is being held at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam.
  • East and West Godavari Graduates' Constituency: The votes for this highly contested seat are being counted at Vatlur CRR Engineering College near Eluru.
  • Krishna-Guntur Graduates' Constituency: The vote counting for this seat is taking place at Guntur AC College.

A three-tier security arrangement has been put in place at all counting centers to prevent any disruptions. The contest in Andhra Pradesh has been intense, with a maximum of 35 candidates vying for the East-West Godavari graduates' seat, 25 candidates in the Krishna-Guntur graduates' constituency, and ten candidates in the Uttarandhra teachers' constituency.

The counting process is expected to continue throughout the day, with trends emerging by afternoon and final results anticipated by the evening. With multiple candidates in the fray and a strong voter turnout during the elections, the MLC results are likely to have a significant impact on the political landscape in both states.
