Bhupalpally police have cracked a brutal murder case involving a long-standing land dispute, arresting ten accused while three remain absconding. The murder of Nagavelli Rajalingamurthy, 50, a resident of Reddy Colony, was planned and executed in a revenge-driven attack over disputed land near the Bhupalpally police station.
Grudge Over Land Leads to Murder Plot
The deceased and the accused had been engaged in a legal battle over one acre of land. The prime accused, Renikuntala Sanjeev, 36, along with his family, believed that Rajalingamurthy had fraudulently transferred a portion of the land to his name. Determined to eliminate him, Sanjeev discussed the murder plan with his associates, including former municipal vice-chairman Kotha Haribabu, who allegedly assured support by promising legal and financial assistance.
Execution of the Crime
On February 19, 2025, after spotting Rajalingamurthy at a court hearing, Sanjeev ordered his associates to track him. Later that evening, as the victim was riding home on his motorcycle, the accused ambushed him near his house. They threw chili powder into his eyes and launched a vicious attack using knives and an iron rod, stabbing him fatally before fleeing the scene.
Arrests and Seizures
Based on intelligence, Bhupalpally police apprehended ten accused at the 5 Incline Check Post while they were planning their escape. During interrogation, they confessed, leading to the recovery of:
- 5 motorcycles
- 7 mobile phones
- 2 knives and an iron rod
- Bloodstained clothes
Search for Absconding Accused
While ten suspects have been arrested, three—Kotha Hari Babu, Pulla Naresh, and Pulla Suresh—remain on the run. Special police teams have been deployed to track them down.
Police Commendation
The case was successfully solved under the leadership of Bhupalpally Inspector D. Naresh Kumar. SP Bhupalpally has commended the investigative team for their swift action in solving the murder and bringing the culprits to justice.
