In a remarkable feat of medical expertise, CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills, successfully saved the life of a 68-year-old woman who suffered multiple cardiac arrests. The patient, initially collapsed at another hospital, was brought to CARE Hospitals in critical condition with severe heart dysfunction.

Upon arrival, the patient exhibited life-threatening arrhythmias, including ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation, and her heart was functioning at a mere 25% of its capacity. The medical team immediately intervened, placing the patient on an intra-aortic balloon pump and ventilator support. Despite these measures, the arrhythmias persisted. After ruling out major blockages in the coronary arteries, doctors performed a stellate ganglion block to control the irregular heartbeats.

The patient underwent multiple rounds of cardioversion and received advanced pharmacotherapy to stabilize her condition. Subsequently, she was implanted with a state-of-the-art cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRT-D) to regulate her heart rhythm and improve its pumping function. "This case highlights the critical role of advanced cardiac care and the coordinated efforts of our multidisciplinary team," said Dr. V. Surya Prakasa Rao, Clinical Director & Head of Cardiology at CARE Hospitals. "We are committed to providing the highest quality care to our patients and ensuring the best possible outcomes."

After a two-week stay at the hospital, the patient was discharged in stable condition. This successful outcome was a result of the combined expertise of cardiologists, cardiac critical care specialists, anesthesiologists, and electrophysiologists. Later speaking Biju Nair, Zonal Chief Operating Officer of CARE Hospitals, commended the team's dedication and expressed pride in their ability to save lives and provide exceptional patient care.
