In a landmark moment for Telangana and women in leadership, Dr. Rumana Sinha Sehgal, Founder and CEO of Serendipity, has become the first woman to be appointed as Regional Mentor of Change (RMoC) under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, Government of India, for the state of Telangana.
This prestigious appointment places her among just 43 distinguished individuals selected nationally in 2025, following a highly competitive and rigorous selection process. It also makes her the only woman ever selected as RMoC for Telangana, adding to her already impressive track record of over 25 years in technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Rumana’s appointment marks a historic milestone, not only for her personal journey but also for Telangana’s emergence as a hub of innovation and inclusivity. As a key member of Mentor India—India’s largest mentoring network under AIM—she will now play a vital role in guiding students across 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) nationwide.
Expressing her gratitude to NITI Aayog and AIM, Dr. Rumana said:
“Empathy, access, and action must become national imperatives. This honor strengthens my resolve to drive inclusive innovation, particularly for youth and women.”
She reaffirmed her commitment to catalyzing impact through mentorship, innovation, and ethical leadership. Her new role further expands her influence, particularly in fostering innovation-led growth across rural and urban Telangana.
Colleagues, educators, and innovators across the country have hailed the appointment as a watershed moment for women leadership in STEM and public innovation policy.
Dr. Rumana also extended congratulations to fellow RMoCs across India, expressing confidence that their collaborative efforts will shape a more innovative, inclusive, and future-ready India.
