Strict Action Against Blackmail Tactics: CI Mallesh
Deccan News Service | Bhupalapalli : Chityala Circle Inspector D. Mallesh has warned that stringent legal action will be initiated against individuals who indulge in illegal activities and later attempt to cover up their mistakes by blackmailing the police with false and politically motivated allegations. He issued a clear statement to this effect on Saturday, asserting that the police will not tolerate attempts to malign the department while officers are discharging their lawful duties.
Explaining the background, CI Mallesh said that during routine vehicle checks conducted near the Shivaji statue in Chityala in the last week of November, the police stopped a motorcycle ridden by Mothkuru Naresh. A breathalyzer test revealed a reading of 473, indicating severe intoxication. Upon further inspection, the police recovered five litres of illicit liquor from the vehicle. Following due investigation, a case was registered against Mothkuru Naresh and Sada Ramulu of CR Palli for illegal transportation of illicit liquor and driving under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle was seized as per procedure.
The CI expressed concern over subsequent developments, stating that on January 16, the accused allegedly made inappropriate remarks against the police near the Ambedkar statue, falsely accusing officers of deliberately withholding the seized vehicle. He strongly condemned attempts by some individuals to give the issue a political colour and drag political leaders into a purely legal matter for personal gain.
CI Mallesh made it clear that, after seeking legal opinion, strict action will be taken against anyone trying to damage the reputation of the police department. He emphasized that the police remain impartial and treat all citizens equally, irrespective of political affiliations. Appealing to the public, he urged people not to support those involved in unlawful activities and to understand the facts before believing misleading claims.
